FAQS

The Benson Box® has passed third-party testing standards verifying the superior protection they provide to ensure your fragile products arrive at their final destination without any damage. The Benson Box® design has distinct advantages over both cardboard boxes, which typically last for one use, and ATA cases, which don’t hold up to the Benson Box®’s shock-resistant design. Click here for a comparison or see below for more details.

The Benson Box® is designed to provide a great value to our clients because it’s engineered to be both shock-resistant and reusable. Our patented construction actually absorbs impact from drops or rough handling, protecting the contents inside and saving money by preventing damaged items. In addition, each Benson Box is designed for reuse, holding up through multiple shipping cycles. Our customers have successfully re-used Benson Boxes 50, 75, even 100 times!

Cardboard boxes can’t compare to the Benson Box®, which is constructed of corrugated plastic and is designed with a telescoping top that slides over the bottom to provide a double layer of protection. That means the closed Benson Box® effectively includes four layers of corrugated plastic. The interior of the box has custom-designed foam padding (specifically designed for the product being shipped) as does the inside of the upper lid. The upper and lower sections of the box are fastened with a Velcro-like material and a security seal can be attached to provide a tamper-proof closure.

Since the Benson Box® is made of corrugated plastic, it actually “gives” when dropped or jarred, absorbing energy and protecting the fragile item inside. Rigid or hard cases allow the energy to pass through to the item inside even when the case has foam protection similar to the Benson Box®. Also, if a plywood-based ATA case gets damaged, it loses its integrity and is no longer usable. Benson Box® clients have reused our containers through 50, 75, or even 100 shipping cycles!

The patented Benson Box® is available only through Benson Box® and its parent company, Freight Mate. Unless another company is licensed by Freight Mate to sell a Benson Box®, Freight Mate is your only available supplier. The Benson Box® has more than 100 standard sizes available. Custom hand-cut sizes can be provided for items which are odd-sized, oversized or otherwise would not fit into a standard Benson Box®.

Nine colors are available, some of which are standard colors and others may require special ordering at an additional cost. Some of the more popular colors are yellow, red, orange, blue, navy, and black.

Vinyl or screen printing is available and can include your company logo, name, address, telephone number, etc. With printing added, the Benson Box® becomes an effective advertising medium for your company.

Since Benson Boxes are fabricated only after an order has been received, Freight Mate has the flexibility of manufacturing one box or 10,000 boxes. Price discounts are available for quantity orders.

Since the interior of each Benson Box® is custom-fabricated, most orders are processed within 10 business days to two weeks. If printing is requested, that may take longer. Some customers send us an actual sample of the item to be shipped in the Benson Box®, which enables our Design Team to expedite the design process.

Benson Box® accepts Master Card, VISA, and American Express. Open accounts are considered after receiving a credit application and subsequent credit approval. Credit cards are suggested for first orders while a credit application is pending.

Small quantities can be shipped via FedEx. Large orders are shipped on pallets via common carrier. You may arrange your own shipping or we can obtain quotes so you can decide on the method of shipping. Because we are a frequent shipper, several freight carriers offer special rates to Benson Box®. If we arrange your freight shipment, the freight charges will be added to your invoice.
